ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne is probably the first university in the world to have launched an online type foundry, allowing direct access for anyone to a selection of typefaces, all designed by students.
The ECAL Typefaces project is notable for the concept of producing a 'foundry' for outgoing students. The creation of a shared commercial space, possibly with a constraint on the type of work that can be sold (such as a typeface, icon, etc).
